The Runner has been cancelled or postponed by ABC. ABC announced Oct. 19 that it is putting the Runner series on hold. "Unfortunately, it is our view that today’s environment would not be conducive to this type of television event. We have spent a great deal of time and effort developing what we feel is a totally unique and exciting series. It is our hope that circumstances will evolve in such a way that we’ll eventually be comfortable moving forward," says Lloyd Braun, co-chairman of ABC Entertainment Television, referring to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Casting began for "The Runner" on July 22, 2001 and closed on September 27, 2001.

Alone and on the run, one citizen - the Runner - must carry out a series of secret missions while trying to evade capture. Pursuing the Runner across the country are Agents, who have at their disposal not only the latest technology to track the Runner's every move, but also the greatest resource on the planet -- the American public.

People who register as Online Agents will be able to track the Runner's location online, analyze clues, and participate in finding the Runner. Registered Online Agents may also be eligible to share in the bounty prize.
