In the two hour finale of Joe Millionaire 2, David dismissed the 22 year old Cat. She was upset, but she took the rejection with dignity. Then, David told Linda that he had been lying about being rich, and he told her that he was in fact very poor. As he broke the bad news, David was very tense and upset. Then, after giving it some thought, Linda did not show up to receive David's "promise ring." Rather, she left him standing "at the alter" so to speak. But, apparently, the producers wanted a happy ending, so they went and got Linda and took her to Texas. She told David that "it as not the money; rather, it was the lie." So, the lying was the reason why she left David standing with ring in hand. But, the big surprise for David and Linda was that the producers gave Linda a check for $250,000, and they gave David a 90 acre ranch in Texas. But, for me, this question still remains: Did Linda return for love or was she told that if she returned she would be rewarded. The producers would have us believe that she returned for love. I guess I am a cynic.
If you missed the first episode of Joe Millionaire 2, then you really did not miss much. The fourteen women were introduced as well as David Smith. The women were first told that David was a "cowboy." And, all of them were really disappointed. In fact, they started to ridicule him. Then, they were told that he was worth $80 million, and they changed their perspective. However, many still continued to ridicule "cowboys." After they were told that David rode horses in a rodeo, some of the girls try to understand the whole rodeo thing, but it was very foriegn to most. Toward the end of the episode, David rode in on a horse and introduced himself briefly to the girls. He remained 20 paces from the girls, and he seemed nervous. That's about all that happened.
The new Joe Millionaire is David Smith, a 24 year-old, rodeo horseman who earns $11,000 a year. The girls are told that he is worth $80 million. The girls are from Europe, and none of them have been exposed to the former "Joe Millionaire" TV show. The new show will feature 14 European beauties with names such as Petra, Giada, Jerusha, Olinda and Alessia from countries such as the Czech Republic, Sweden, Norway, Germany and others. They are told that they are going to be on a show called "Dream Date."
