CBS's THE AMAZING RACE 5 continued on its torrid summer pace, leading the Network to a Tuesday win in viewers, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54, according to final Nielsen ratings for Aug. 3.
THE AMAZING RACE 5 was first in viewers (10.55m), adults 25-54 (4.8/12), adults 18-49 (4.5/13) and adults 18-34 (4.0/12). This is the second best delivery this season for THE AMAZING RACE 5 in viewers, adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and tied as the second best adults 18-34 performance.
Not only were Donny and Alison the second team eliminated from The Amazing Race, but their on-again/off-again relationship finally hit the skids big time. Many people were surprised that Donny stuck with Alison after her questionable behavior on Big Brother 4 last summer. Most wouldn't be surprised that the bickering couple didn't stay together long past their trip to South America on The Amazing Race. "In this exclusive Q&A with TV Guide Online, the estranged pair of losers air their grievances and let loose with a few well-aimed barbs. This unpleasant exchange is about as real as reality TV gets, Race fans. Buckle your seatbelts!"
Granted, with reality shows as welcome this month as West Nile mosquitoes, you might not see much reason to cheer tonight's arrival of CBS' Amazing Race 5 (9:30 ET/PT). But the exhilarating, Emmy-winning Race reliably offers more entertainment for less aggravation than any show in the genre. And to judge from the incomplete preview tape of tonight's debut, this fifth Race should be equally worth the run.
The 5th series of The Amazing Race is set to premiere on July 6 at 9:30 pm. After this 1-1/2 hour episode, Amazing Race will move to its regular slot of 10:00 pm on Tuesdays. CBS should be announcing the 11 teams this week, but at least one team is known: Alison from Big Brother 4 and her boyfriend Donny. CBS recently announced that the 6th series of The Amazing Race will air at 8:00 pm on Saturdays beginning this fall. Be sure to watch as the teams participate in the race of a lifetime!
