American Idol 5: Contestants compete for a recording contract.

Synopsis: Hopefuls sign up to take part in a nerve-racking evalution by Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson. Only about 100 make it to Hollywood for a second audition. In Hollywood, the contestants are narrowed further to 32 finalists. Once, the field is narrowed to 12, viewers will get to vote off a contestant each week. Each contestant faces the judges for a no-holds barred critique of their pop star potential. The show is hosted by Ryan Seacrest. Viewers will see the performers every Tuesday night, and at the end of the show, viewers will phone in votes on who they think should go on to the next round. Winners are revealed the following night. By the end the season, the field will be narrowed to two - with viewers picking the final winner. American Idol 5 will air on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with Tuesday featuring live performances and Wednesday the results show.
