On September 21 The Amazing Race won the 2003 Emmy award for Most Outstanding Reality/Competition Program, beating out Survivor, American Idol, and two movie/TV highlight shows. The award actually went to the series that aired during the 2002-2003 season: Amazing Race 3 (which aired in the fall of 2002 and was won by whiney Flo and patient Zach). Producer Jerry Bruckheimer was thrilled at the win but pointed out that CBS still hasn't renewed the series. Casting is underway for Amazing Race 5 and if all goes well, it could show up on a TV near you in February or March 2004 or perhaps next summer. See the link below for pictures of the winners.

Chip and Reichen appeared without their wedding bands on, during an interview with the Early Show. When asked about whether or not they are together, Chip replied that relationships go through bumps and bruises but yes they are still together. Both are currently pursuing acting careers. Chip is currently writing a script for a series and Reichen is working with an acting coach to help him with his bit role on Fraiser. Both feel that they helped in breaking the stereotype for overly feminine homo-sexuals.

David & Jeff started out with a 30 minute lead. However, they made a wrong turn in Cairns, Australia. Their destination was Hawaii, but David & Jeff hopped the first airplane to Sydney, rather than trying to find a route from Cairns. That was a big mistake, and it took them out of the race. Reichein & Chip took the lead over Kelly & Jon in Japan when they were able to get on the connecting flight to Hawaii. Kelly & Jon were just 10 minutes behind them, but they were too late to get on the airplane to Hawaii. As a result, they were an hour behind the leaders, having to take the next flight. Kelly & Jon gained some ground on the leaders, but in the end, they were not able to make up the time lost, and Reichein & Chip won the race. Reichein & Chip won $1 million.

The Soccer Moms from TAR3 are filling in for Teri and Ian this week because their local TV station covered a tornado rather than showing TAR this week. Gina and Sylvia think that if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all! This week's summary is a little milder than usual, but Ian does get a few words in. Read more about Episode 11 at the link below.
