Idol Thoughts, February 23: Bad Begets Bad
Posted by realitycheck on 2004-02-24 |
| Group Two’s performances on last week’s American Idol were some of the worst we’ve seen at this level of competition. What went wrong? Many think the blame goes much farther than the singers who took the stage last week. How did these contestants get to the top 32? Well, a lot had to do with the judges decisions. How come weaker contestants weren't equally distributed among the other talented groups? Some say that the producers of the show may have made these decisions to ridicule some of the contenstants on purpose, the Roman brothers possibly. The point of American Idol is to show the world that many talented singers who have potential are overlooked by the music industry and are extremely gifted and deserve the opportunity to showcase themselves. American Idol gives them that chance as they have proven that as the show is a star-maker with producing rising stars such as: Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard. Before the 3rd season even began, there was mention by the producers and the judges that "the bar has been raised." Well, after watching and listening to last week's contestants from group two, I would like to think otherwise. In order to save the show from last week's week horrible performances, there is word that the 3rd group is talent heavy. Let us hope that American Idol can turn around and give us what we want, talented people that can really sing. If not, you can kiss American Idol 4 goodbye. |
