Tribe Switching and Surprise Votes.
As we learned last week, Rupert was chosen to head over to the Morgan tribe. While he was there, he wisely made five new friends, helping to feed them, and shelter them. Rupert also gained important information to bring back regarding the Morgan tribe, their lack of food, organization, and team work. Ryan O seemed to take the strongest role learning as much as he could from Rupert while he was there, including how to use the slingshot spear, a very useful tool for the remaining days that they are there. It will also help Ryan to further secure his position within the tribe, by proving his worth as a provider. Ruper also leant strength to the team in helping them to win the reward challenge which this week consisted of rowing a boat into the ocean and making five stops along the way to pick up ladder rungs. Proving his strength was not just a bonus for the Morgan tribe, but also for Rupert as well, proving to the Drake tribe that Rupert is indispensable. At the Drake tribe, however, weakness were shown all throughout the challenge. Jon, continues to be a weak link at the tribe and I am stupefied as to why they continue to keep such a moronic, lazy, loose cannon. Morgan won a piece of their map, and all the fixings for a wonderful shower back at camp. Rupert chose not to participate ( another wise move on his part, as it would show the Drake tribe where his loyalties still lie) and returned back to the open arms of the Drake tribe.
Not much this week played into the building or destruction of camp relationships, aside from the friendships that Rupert has formed with the opposing tribe. Rupert even kindly offered Andrew more than what was deserved in his “looting” at the Drake tribe, because Rupert knew what a desperate situation the Morgan tribe was in regards to food. ( Andrew chose to loot some rice from the Drake camp) Shawn told his tribe mates that he had decided to also vote Burton out, as he was a negative force at the Drake camp.
The Immunity challenge was the typical survivor gross out eating fest. This time, instead of eating live bugs, or drinking cows blood, Jeff grouped delicacies from the sea together in a blender for a Survivor Style smoothie. Michelle, not grossed out by any foods, volunteered to be their guinea pig if a second go-round was required. The plan was for Michelle to play up how disgusted she was in hopes of tricking the other tribe into thinking that she was the weakest link. When it came time though for her starring role, Michelle let her ego get the best of her, and drank her fish with a swaggering cockiness and then proceeded to belch her approval of such a wonderfully made smoothie. Thus, putting Drake’s tribe “in the drink”. Sandra, was chosen instead for the drink off. Drake chose Darrah to compete against her. They were to drink a blend of Jeff’s choosing topped off with a sardine that they had to chew and swallow. Both women did better than I ever would in this competition, but in the end it was Darrah who beat Sandra by a hair. Sandra had difficulties getting the sardines head down. Morgan wins immunity, Drake goes to Tribal Council.
Sandra and Michelle both fear that they will be on the chopping block for their blunders at the immunity challenge. Jon, of course, has nothing but criticism for the two women, but I certainly didn’t see him volunteering for being the guinea pig when the tribe chose Michelle for their little plan. In fact, I don’t remember the last time that lazy jerk ever volunteered for anything, except to sit out on a challenge. Michelle obviously upset by her performance at the challenge becomes violently ill while discussing with Rupert the possibility of voting Shawn off. Rupert and Michelle brought up valid points regarding the merge, Shawn’s lack of participation within the group, and his band-wagon jumping regarding voting off Burton. I thought for sure that Rupert would vote with Michelle and take out Shawn. To my surprise in a landslide vote, Michelle was in fact the one whose torch was snuffed.
Next week’s previews show tempers flaring again with the hot-head John. Though, to me, that clip looked surprisingly just like the clip that was shown to us two weeks ago when supposedly tempers were going to flare and Jon was going to create major controversy. I refuse to believe that this is a foreshadowing of the demise of Jon next week. From the information I have read regarding Jeff Probst and his total disdain for Jon, I have a feeling that Jon will be sticking around to get on my nerves for a whole lot longer.
