Scott's eviction: The Details
Posted by david on 2003-07-13
What were the Producers thinking when they invited Scott Weintraub, a 33 year old waiter, to live in the Big Brother house? Scott was on medication for an anxiety disorder, and they placed Scott in the house with his ex-girlfriend, Amanda.

Scott has been deteriorating for days. At first, the house guests just thought that Scott needed a lot of attention. Then, after a couple of nasty fights with his ex-girlfriend, Amanda, the house guests were beginning to think that Scott was psycho. HOH Nathan nominated Amanda (Scott’s ex) in large part due to her fights with Scott.

Things started to take a turn for the worse on the evening of July 12. After professing his love for Amanda for a couple of days and after Amanda said that she did not want to have anything to do with him, Scott’s conditioned worsened. Scott began to talk about how it would be better if he left the Big Brother house. Then in the early evening of July 12, Scott had a fit of rage, where he threw chairs across the kitchen and refused to go into the diary room.

For the last 48 hours, the house guests have been discussing ways to get rid of Scott. After Dana won the Veto Challenge, she has been talking about using the veto and getting Scott put up for nomination. HOH Nathan has had several meetings with the other house guests, trying to assess whether or not Scott can be put up for nomination without breaking his word and going against the alliance of eight (the first alliance, in which the initial eight agreed to vote out all of the exes). In the early afternoon of July 12, Nathan, Alison and Dana talked with Jack and Erika about putting Scott up for nomination and voting him out of the house. But, at that time, Jack and Erika were not for it. Jack, especially, did not want Scott to go. So, they agreed that they would NOT put Scott up for nomination, this week.

Dana had been the strongest advocate of getting Scott out of the house. In the Diary Room, Dana stressed that the producers need to do something about Scott, and she said that she feared for her safety. Jun has also said that she feared for her safety. Dana had several conversations with Nathan about using her veto and nominating Scott for eviction. Nathan, Alison, Jun, Justin and others agreed that Scott had to go. The only question was “when?”

At about midnight on July 12, the producers made the decision to evict Scott from the house for throwing a temper tantrum.

Right after his temper tantrum, Scott told Amanda that he still loved her. Previously he told her that he thinks about her every second of the day. Scott said that Amanda’s presence in the house was like a “knife in the back.” He could hardly bare the fact that Amanda was in the house and rejecting his love, and he said that he could hardly bare being in the house and not being able to hug and kiss Amanda. He said that the only way that he knew how to cope with the situation was to be a total ass. Then, Scott began talking about leaving the house out of his love for Amanda so that she could have a chance at winning the game. Everyone knew that Amanda was going to be voted out this week.

When Scott went into the Diary Room, Amanda told the other house guests that Scott is very spoiled and that he doesn't handle situations in a mature way. She said, “He blames everyone else for his problems.”

While Scott was in the Diary Room, Dana predicted that the Producers would evict him from the house. Dana had been putting a lot of pressure on the Producers to evict him, telling them repeatedly that she feared for her safety. Dana said, “They will put us on lockdown and escort him out of the house.” And, sure enough, that is exactly what happened.

But, after exiting from the Diary Room, Scott called a house meeting. He said that he was sorry for his behavior and for losing it. He tried to make the other house guests feel sorry for him by saying that he was suffering, since he still loves Amanda. Amanda was able to move on, and he has not been able to move on. He also announced that one of the reasons why he has not dating anyone in over a year and a half is that he contracted a sexually transmitted disease, namely, Human Papilloma Virus or genital warts. He claimed that this STD devastated him, even though he has not had any warts in several months.

Shortly after the house meeting, Scott was called into the Diary Room again, and this time, he was asked to leave the Big Brother house.
