’Junior Deputy Firewood Bitch’ Cops Last Feel As Amazon ‘Mastermind’ Has Fire Snuffed!”
Posted by Grimme on 2003-05-09 |
Things I thought I would never see……..Butch with some air time. Butch dancing, if you can call that dancing. Another Rob (with Matt) saying “dude” on a Survivor outside of Thailand. Jenna, the sorority girl, moaning the fiery end of her pledge crown and Zeta jacket. Half of an immunity necklace burned up. Someone (Rob) describing himself before a prime-time audience as a “Junior Deputy Firewood Bitch”. And Heidi finally being sent packing home.
Yes, Survivor fans everywhere rejoiced that tonight, at long, long last, those two “Brazil nuts”, Heidi and Jenna, were finally split apart by some rough jungle surgery at the Tribal Council. It’s like Laverne losing Shirley, Cagney losing Lacey, Kate losing Allie, Mary Kate Olsen losing twin Ashley. I wish it had been more like Thelma and Louise with both of them gone but with this Survivor you take what you can get and we got Heidi’s head delivered on a platter.
And what a swelled head Heidi had. Not to mention that cross-eyed look of bovine stupidity as she chewed on some Amazon delicacy. Here was Heidi who couldn’t untie her way out of a cage during the reward challenge, complimenting herself at Tribal Council for being a “mastermind behind half of the plans going on” and bragging how “three guys here are scared that I could beat them.”
Hearing this surprising self-appraisal, Matt and Rob exchanged “what planet is she on?” looks while jury members Christy stared into space and Dave held his head in his hands. Heidi, Heidi, Heidi, just remember you can be everyone’s crush one day and then get crushed by everyone on another day. Sometimes you’re the bug, other times you’re the Heidi. Neither one is attractive.
Poor Jenna had it rough this episode. She was sick with her tonsils and larynx. The destructive fire in the camp burned up her letters from home, her pledge crown and Zeta jacket. She lost her best friend Heidi and is now the only woman with three of the last men on earth that she thought she would be with in the treacherous Amazon. And she’s next on the list to go home. I doubt she ever knew that Heidi betrayed her by trying to get the male alliance to send “poor, sick Jenna” home before Heidi or else she wouldn’t have mentioned “loyalty” at the Tribal Council.
What’s a sorority girl to do with all of these reverses? No wonder Jenna covered her face with her hands just after Heidi was voted off. And to top off all these indignities, good ol’ Rob cops a feel of her knee too just after he had done the same thing to Heidi. Methinks the boy will pay for that one in the not too distant future.
I really thought Butch was going to be the one going this episode since he started giving heavy air time for really the first time in the show. We saw him maniacally gathering firewood and stacking it, dancing or what passed for dancing, spouting off his philosophy of life, dealing with the camp’s fire and its aftermath. Even Jenna noticed him and called him a “moron” and Rob also acknowledged his existence by characterizing him as “a wood crazy nut”. It turned out to be a false impression.
I spent the first 15 minutes of this episode wondering “Where is Matt?” who finally showed up and made up for lost time by winning both the reward and the immunity challenges. It was this episode where Rob clearly passed any leadership baton he possessed totally into Matt’s capable hands.
From being a scorned, clueless, mocked non-entity, Matt has become the power broker of the tribe or is “in the driver’s seat” in the words of “only the shotgun” Rob. He says he has made a alliance with both Rob (which we have seen) and with Butch, which we have not seen. The game seems to be Matt’s to win and the two remaining questions are: (1) Who will Matt choose to take with him to the Final 2---if the choice is his and (2) What role will immunity have in deciding Jenna’s eventual fate since she seems pretty destined to be next on the chopping block or in Butch’s further survival in the game.
Scrtprncs will do the final review for the both of us this coming Sunday. I have really enjoyed doing the “He Said/She Said” articles with her and I owe this wonderful opportunity to Dundee who surprisingly proposed me to be one of the two Survivor reviewers. It has been so much fun!
