American Idol: Contestants compete for a recording contract.

Synopsis: More than 10,000 hopefuls signed up to take part in a nerve-racking TV talent contest, but only the top 100 will make it to the first round. 100 contestants will be narrowed to 50, and then 50 will be narrowed to 10. Once, the field has been narrowed, viewers will get to vote off two contestants each week. Each contestant faces the judges, SIMON COWELL, PAULA ABDUL and RANDY JACKSON, for a no-holds barred critique of their pop star potential. The show is hosted by BRIAN DUNKLEMAN and RYAN SEACREST. Viewers will see about 10 performers every Tuesday night and at the end of the show will phone in a vote on who they think should go on to the next round. Winners are revealed the following night. By the end the season, the field will be narrowed to two - with viewers picking the final winner.
