Studdard’s Former Manager Counter-Sues 'Idol' Winner
Posted by jeremynmo on 2005-03-19

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Ruben Studdard’s former manager is seeking $500,000 in damages from the American Idol winner for allegedly failing to pay his management fees and not reimbursing him for expenses. Ron Edwards’ court filing on Friday is a counterclaim to the lawsuit Studdard filed in February. Studdard’s suit claims Edwards and his Birmingham marketing and advertising firm, Sez Inc., misused $246,000 in the year that he worked for Studdard. The suit also accuses Edwards of making unauthorized expenses after he was fired. Edwards, 46, denied those allegation in his filing.

Clarkson, Guarini Say Making Movie Easy
Posted by becky578 on 2003-06-12

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini, the winner and first runner-up of last year's "American Idol", said making their first film "From Justin to Kelly" was easy compared to the long hours and hard work they put into performing in the Fox talent competition that made them famous. "From Justin to Kelly", a 20th Century Fox movie musical about two students who fall in love on spring break in Miami, is set to open nationwide on June 20. The movie went from conception to completion in record time - about 2 1/2 months. Asked how the "American Idol" competition prepared them for making the film, Clarkson said, "By the time we got to the movie, it was a piece of cake." "Yeah, it really was," added Guarini, in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. "We had worked so hard. We had the big show, the touring, which was 30 shows in 40 days, and on our 10 off days." He predicted the duo will be able "to do any TV show, any tour, any movie and any record from now on, because it will never, ever be like this again ... There will never, ever be so much crammed into one time." Clarkson and Guarini said they made their new film in six weeks after just three weeks to learn the script, the music and the dance routines. "American Idol" has already turned Clarkson and Guarini into recording stars. Both have deals with RCA records. Clarkson's album "Thankful" is already platinum and Guarini's new album is due out Tuesday.

Kelly Clarkson: Debut Album

After her smash hit "A Moment Like This" rocketed to the tops of the charts-breaking all records for fastest climb to the top on the Billboard chart-Kelly Clarkson seems to have already fizzled out. Was the American Idol really just a one hit wonder? This writer doubts so. After she was offered a movie contract, her album release date has been pushed back months, to March 4th, 2003. Her movie with Justin Guarini, the second place contestant from the show, is set to come out this spring as well. Kelly has also been touring, making public apperances, and will no doubt continue to do so in the coming months. This busy girl will no doubt have a much larger impact on the entertainment industry than she already has!
